Susie Galea for Mayor – Branding

Susie Galea ran for mayor against three other candidates in New Mexico's ninth largest city. This was the first time in 40+ years that a mayoral campaign had taken place – in the past, the City Commission appointed a mayor.

For this six-month campaign, while working closely with Susie and her campaign manager, Javier Casillas, I ended up designing and managing everything from the main logo, to signage, newspaper articles, flyers, shirts, an animated version of the logo, some web graphics, social media banners, etc. I initially created several finished drafts of her primary logo – some more complex than others – but in the end we decided to go with one of the more simplistic and clean versions in order to stand out amongst the typically busy and colorful array of political campaign ads and signs.

Mayor Galea ended up winning the campaign by a landslide with 49% of the public vote while the mayor pro-tem (first runner-up) received about 23%.
I created the lower-thirds, the lower right corner digital on-screen graphic (bug), as well as the end logo animation to stay true to the brand standards we set up early in the campaign.
